Heather,
Now you've got me worried about our hotwire - can you please share what
problems they can have? We've yet to have even one problem with ours other
than an occasional dead sparrow.

As far as "our" coyotes' actual proximity, I'm not sure they come
closer than the wooded area across the street and way across a huge
pasture. Sometimes their howls sound very close, but I can't tell how
close they actually are. I'm actually more worried about the
neighbor's dogs that we sometimes see roaming down the road.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: wanted: source for bamboo fiber

Thanks to everyone who has responded. Yes, I had an idea that bamboo
fiber was not anything close to "green", as is the case with rayon,
viscose, and tencel. And I won't consider pre-emergent silk which
kills the larvae before they leave their cocoon. And, I have limited
experience with some other shorn fibers, and besides vicuña and musk-
ox, nothing comes close to or surpasses alpaca.

So I guess I'll have to leave it up to customers, their sense of
touch, and their conscience, as to what type of fiber they want to
blend with my alpaca fleeces!

Thanks everyone!

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Need advice ....

Wow..Thanks everyone!
Great ideas..I never thought of! We do not have coyotes as far as I
know but hey...if it can keep them out if we do! I actually thought of
the outside and inside fence..but not hot wire ....We have lots of
folks living around us...but in front of us is about 100 or so acres to
be sold..Its all woods..I know I would feel soooo much better having
this protection..even for the raccoons...lol..Yep they are
cuties..until...I put up 3ft no climb fence for our little dog
area...worked so well to keep them in and our "others" out of the
doggie door..that I did 2 raised gardens last fall for this year!!!
Those little guys can demolish a garden! lol...
Again..Thanks so much..I feel so much better and ready to plan ahead!

[AlpacaTalk] RE: Goldensesal

<<<<I have written to Randy Beavers/Sleepy Hollow asking him if this brand
is one that was tested by any chance. I don't recognize it so probably
not. But I will let you know what he says. And also asked him about
shipping across the border.>>>>

Randy says that Richter's has a good reputation, but they are not
growing/harvesting their own g'seal, so he can't speak to the quality of
that particular product. But also reiterates what I have already said -
using the whole plant potentiates (makes the alkaloids in the root more
available) the potency of the root and will be more effective. His
formula is patent pending and he shared the latest (30page) research
report for his NIH grant. I haven't had a chance to read it all, but it
is quite impressive.

He says he has shipped to Cananda before with no problems, so not sure
what problem you encountered ordering from his web site.

Warmly, Janice
