Just got the new Jeffers Catalog and they have insulated buckets that are supposed to last 8 hrs before freezing up.Hope that helps.

I have seen an insulated horse waterer that doesn't require electricity.  Check horse supplies.High Country Insulated Bucketwww.horse.com
