Re: [AlpacaTalk] Move Group?

Well, sorry about the multiple posts. I'm having major problems
connecting to my mail server via my wireless connection lately. I'll
delte the redundant posts from the web area.

See? Another reason to move!

RE: [AlpacaTalk] Move Group?

The problem with moving the group is that YaHoo groups is the default
(albeit lousy) list server, and everyone knows to search YaHoo groups to
find lists that are of interest to them. How would they know to look for
whitelotusalpacas.com for an alpaca list? Also, wouldn't having your farm
name in the URL be a form of advertising on the list?

[AlpacaTalk] Move Group?

How would everyone feel about moving the group to a more functional
forum venue? The Yahoo groups are really behind the times, they haven't
grown with the discussion group evolution, but are mired in the old
list-serve/bulletin board days. It can be difficult to follow threads
on this type of discussion group, and I find it pretty annoying a lot
of the time.

I'm sure many users are lurkers or not even active at all, but I'd like
to know if you would be interested in moving the group top a better,
more modern site? I ask because I am exploring the tools at Network
Solutions, where my farm website is hosted, and there are quite a few
tools that will allow forum setup, as well as a lot of other things I
need to look into and learn about!

Let me know what you think!

Thanks, Carla! The alpaca industry needs all the marketing help it can get
right now. Good for you! I too just had major knee surgery and can't even
spin - have been laying around trying to figure out good marketing ideas for
our herdsire - that would be one way! Thanks!
