Since I teach marketing workshops, I thought I'd give you my take...

Number One ...before you can develop a marketing plan, know your customer. Who are you marketing to? You have to know what they want, not what you want. Do they want to raise young animals or buy grown boys? What are they looking for, then meet their need. ANd you find out by asking them (at least that's the easiest and lesst expensive way.)

Good luck,

[AlpacaTalk] Male Births

I am fairly new to the alpaca business (2 yrs)and had a questions I was
hoping that someone could help with. I have had a total of 7 births
over the last 2 years of which 5 have been males and 2 females. All
animals are out of extremely good champion herdsires and are healthy.
I would have loved to had 5 females and 2 males but that did not
happen. Hence my question, how do you develop a marketing plan selling
males? Do you need to wait until they are 1 1/2 - 2 to see how they
develop? I really dont have females to sell yet as I have only had 2
and they are crias at this point.

I would appreciate anyone comments and advice to a novice.

thanks

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: off-topic: not alpacas

I am very sorry to hear about your feline friend. We had a very similar
thing happen last year.

In the crawlspace under our deck we found a stray who also appeare to be
unable to move her hind legs properly. She appeared to have some kind of
pelvic injury although she had no signs of trauma. When we brought her in to
the vet it seems she suffered a type of embolus that they see in cats. It
kind of disconnects the motor function to the back end to varying degrees.
It can be painful and it often is irrepairable. We had the vet treat her
pain and held her while he kindly euthanized her. It's never easy and I
certainly understand your anguish.

Whatever the issue is with your kitty, I know somehow you will find the
strength to get through it, those of us who care for animals can do no less
for our furry family.
