Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: AOBA Shennanigans/subsidiary

Heather,
I for one would not claim you, or anyone would be deceptive for not changing
a default setting on ARI. Hey, I'm smart. I can google your alpacas and see
who owns them.
On the same note, you are the one that started the thread and used the terms
"shennanigans" (sic) and said "I call bullshit on this" (your words, not
mine.)
They didn't hide it, it was in the minutes, Hey, I'm smart, I can read
them. I received my first email from ALC in December when I renewed.
The BOD is just a bunch of breeders that were willing to get off of their
butts and work hard for the industry.
They spent countless hours fighting frivolous lawsuits, tried to run their
own farms, their family matters, and worked hard for our national
organization.
They didn't send an email when they followed council's advice on a way to
save member's money.
What a scandal, we did not elect perfect people. We settled for second best,
those who had the member's best interests in mind. (Paraphrased from Romanik
vs AOBA)
Those in glass houses should not throw stones.
I have no desire to enter a dialogue with you, but if you intend to attack
the people that work their asses off for this industry and you want to play
armchair quarterback, maybe you should try volunteering and seeing what it's
like to wear a target.

And by the way, your implication that I have attempted to hide my
personal information is noted. I have not "opted out" of anything. That
is the default setting at ARI.

I own an El Bello son, and while looking at his info at ARI, I noticed
El Bello has 4 owners, only one of whom has their account info
published. Are you also implying that those people who have not
selected to make that info public are deceptive and secretive and
somehow doing something questionable?

Free Alpacas Newsletter- How to Profit from Alpaca Farming

[AlpacaTalk] Introduction

Hello
Just thought we would introduce ourselves. We are Chris & Kara Chizmar
and our daughter DeAnna. we live in Central Illinois on a small 3 acre
farm with our dogs and horses. We have decided to get out of our horses
because we do not have the time to commit to the training they require.
Currently we are in the research phase with Alpacas. We are hoping to
get a couple of bred females this spring but first need to cram and
learn as much as possible before we make the leap. So we will be
lurking and learning for a while...with a possible question from time
to time.
Just a few questions to start with: Do you have Suri or huacaya? What
made you decide what type of Alpaca you would have? Is there a better
one for the beginner? What book do you recommend? We are in the
Midwest...are their any must see shows or seminars coming up?
Thanks so much in advance
