Re: [AlpacaTalk] The Future of the Alpaca Fiber Industry

I think it was AlpacaFiberAlliance, another Yahoo group.

At least, that's where I first saw it.

hi Healther
what is the other group where Elwin Bagley began his discussion? I'd like to read the beginning of this conversation.

Get ready everyone!

I have invited Elwin Bagley to continue his discussion on this group,
and Peter Lundberg, please put in your perspective as well. I think
this industry is big enough for many processors and many outlets for
our alpaca fleece. We need alternatives that will fit our individual
needs. The large "co-op" just doesn't do it for many of us.

I asked Elwin to please try to reign in his strong words, but frankly,
I wasn't the least bit offended by his speech on the other group. Then
again, I have gotten in trouble myself for strong words....

Anyway, I hope that this forum will continue to be a learning and
information forum for all, and to me, information is power!

Re: [AlpacaTalk] The Future of the Alpaca Fiber Industry

And let me also say that I did not see his post directly pointed at
Wren before I made this invitation. But up until that post, I had not
seen anything that was too strong.

I still think that he has a lot of good information, and I applaud that
he and Peter and others are trying to create greater options and
alternatives for alpaca fiber producers.

His information regarding the cost of simply sorting fleece, let alone
processing into yarn, exceeding AFCNA's wholesale price of the yarn is
a very interesting point, one that I did not know. It certainly makes
one think.

We can only hope that he puts things in a more factual way and not just name calling and yelling about what he is going to do. Talk to us in a normal (not in red in big letters) computer voice. Let us ask questions and answer with facts not that he is losing money and he will sue.
