Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: not receiving messages

I'm a lurker because I hope to own alpacas in about a year and I want to
learn from you all ahead of time, and I for one would find such a manual
INCREDIBLY valuable! :) I'm amazed at how hard it is to find information
like this for new or prospective alpaca owners.

Free Alpacas Newsletter- How to Profit from Alpaca Farming

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: not receiving messages

hi - i also experienced that panic when i saw one of my new alpacas with her mouth open, breathing hard - my first thought was "choking" - add that to the gray hairs i sprouted when i saw my first cria with white foam around his mouth - i was sure he had eaten something poisonous - i felt really foolish when it was pointed out to me that it was milk mustache -

maybe we should put together a "don't panic when you see ...." manual for new owners?

LOL, the first time I saw mine after a spit fight, but without having
witnessed it, I was panicked. They were breathing hard, agitated,
drooling green stuff and their bottom lips were hanging! OMG, they're
choking or poisened or...!??!? Fortunately, b/4 I rushed them to the
vet, a more experienced breeder laughingly told me what it was. Ah,
the things we forget to tell newbies...
