RE: [AlpacaTalk] Re: honey

You can imagine my surprise when told honey is the best product to “push” a prolapsed vent back into a chicken.  Since then, I have heard of many many uses for honey, besides hot biscuits and tea!

Hi Everybody,

Do not forget that Honey is a great “salve” for wounds.  It clears the swelling, keeps it clean, is soothing---and helps speed healing.  I have used it on alpaca wounds that would not close easily---and on puppy paw pads too.  Honey does not hurt when you put it on---and the more natural your honey, the better.

I'm not sure but its 100% natural and there was a show on Dr. Oz about this very subject last week.  Honey was recommended as a substitute over ALL sweeteners.  Plus, it has other benefits, look it up, its a great immune booster, too!

[AlpacaTalk] overweight people and their animals

<<<Now me......I can't seem to control what I eat.
THAT is where I know it's psycological forces at work. That and lack of
exercise, other than farm chores. One of my alpacas has trouble gaining
weight. So he gets the extras.

Susan>>>

Congrats Susan on keeping your animals from being overweight! That
means you are conscious and making conscious choices and
decisions.....that's a huge step up (from unconsciousness). And I
don't mean to imply that you were ever unconscious - but many struggling
with weight issues are. Being overweight is a huge battle and a tough
one to win. I am a psychologist and a nutritionist and have been
helping people find their way thru that forest for about 20 yrs. I
have to clear a different path thru the underbrush for each person as
the issues are complex. Do not assume that it is psychological issues
at work - tho it very well may be. Often the inability to control what
we eat has its roots in physiology - food allergies/sensitivities can
make us crave those very foods that give us problems and is a hard merry
go round to step off of - especially without guidance and support.
Also deficiencies can cause overpowering cravings. The body is telling
us (loudly) that it needs something, but all we hear is "I'm HUNGRY!".
Once the deficiency is resolved those pushy food cravings will quiet
down. It is very complex - the human organism. That is why I am a
holistic psychologist - it is NOT all in our head; but sometimes it is :-).

I did the same thing, Wayne!  Diet ONLY, anything you normally buy.  The only difference is I switched from using Stevia or Sweet n' Low to honey in my tea and coffee and I can just about eat anything I want, not exercise and not get too much heavier.  It DOES work!   : )
