[AlpacaTalk] Re: Over the Boarder

I used to have to help import animals from Canada to the US through
the vet clinic I worked at, but as it has been a wee it of time and
the regulations seem to change daily you will want to contact U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) 2-4 weeks before you want to ship
the animals to keep current.

U.S. Department of Agriculture
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
Veterinary Services (VS)
National Center for Import and Export (NCIE), Unit 39
4700 River Road
Riverdale, MD 20737-1231

Telephone: (301) 734-8364
Fax: (301) 734-6402

Imports of deer and elk and other Cervidae and llamas and alpacas and
other camelids have the same general requirements as livestock. For
information about these imports, phone (301) 734-8170. Special rules
apply for imported zoo animals. For information on these imports,
phone (301) 734-8170.

It is going to be trickier with the NAIS as well. (and please become
aware of NAIS and if you dont like it.. tell everyone!)

This may be of help to you

But I know at the very least that the person in Canada who owns the
animals now will have to blood test them. Talk to them and their vet
as they will have to probably do the paperwork from their end.
