[AlpacaTalk] dilute gray
I have seen grey pinto huacayas. It can happen!
Thanks, all! I like the light silver greys the best and really love the purplish light silver grays. When I first started in alpacas (before I knew anything about BEW's), my goal was for a gray pinto Suri. Now I know better, so I'm settling for a solid gray or tuxedo gray. We also sent in the fleece from our pinto b/w Suri boy and got the most beautiful gray yarn back from the mill, so I'm happy!SUSAN OLSONAlpaca LocoRiverside, CA
Hi Susan
Tricky question. I personally have been lucky enough to pull grey out of the breedings in which I have tried to accomplish grey, some still in the making of a result. We got a grey when we bred our DSG/DRG to our MSG female. She popped a very impressive grey but that was to be some what expected. Then I decided to breed our black who has produced grey to our Maroon who has only knowingly produced one LRG. They also produced an extremely impressive Grey. (Both on Openherd - Cedar Grove's Silver Phaeton and Cedar Grove's Takhoma Silverhawk..
