Hello Talkers-my mother in law has forgotten my birthday and she feels real bad - so bad in fact she would like to purchase a subscription to a magazine for me. I suggested our AOBA dues but got laughter, and well deserved so apparently guilt only goes so far. We get the Alpaca Magazine at this time and would like to find another publication regarding Alpacas that would be helpful. Please make your recommendations what you read and why you like it. We heard of one called Camalid Dynamics which is a broad publication about Camalids - hope I got the name right.

Look forward to your ideas, Michael

[AlpacaTalk] Getting it together and need to know what to ask /Look for

Hello everyone,
Well...finally after months of thought..I have decided that it would be best for me and any alpacas that purchase to board them. My dear husband has been sweet, but I have the good days with the bad days..and other than taking a couple to my son's school (pvt. and small) I don't think I could even take care of therapy alpacas.:O(
So...we have several farms around me...and I want to be sure that I know what to look for and ask...I wouldn't want to have to move them around ....any suggestions? For those of you that do board for others..do you think is would be to much to ask..to have them let my husband set up a cam for me to see them anytime I'm not there?
Thanks for any help you can give me...I guess..visiting and viewing them will have to be the best thing other than my back pasture....

[AlpacaTalk] Small Investment--Big Dividend

Your animals are probably really good ones by now!  You've got the management and the finances figured out and may even be good at showing,..

But are you good at selling the ones you want to sell?

As you read the following comments, picture yourself getting the prices you want and sending the extras off to great new homes!

"Marketing Farm Products" makes you skilled at the marketing strategies that work!  More advanced books when you're ready.

comments:

"I was one of the people who proofread Marketing Farm Products and it is AWESOME!  I can truly say I learned something new on almost every page and I'll be using Ellie's principles!... If you sell anything--any sort of home-based product at all - honestly, you NEED this book. It's much, MUCH better than any other sales or marketing book I've ever read."

"Just bought your book--took it with me while visiting another alpaca farm, and couldn't get it back from her; so I need another one. From what I've read so far, it's definitely worth paying twice for. I've read everything out there on marketing. If you saw my library, it would make your head spin. It's nice to read something pertaining to farming...........just makes it sink in so much easier, and there were a lot of things which I read for the first time."

"I hold a Business Degree in Marketing on the Master's college degree level. This book gave me new views and options to look at. I strongly recommend it!! "
