Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: AOBA Shennanigans/subsidiary

Well, your implication that I opted out of something because I didn't
change defaults that I couldn't even find to change easily is a bit
misleading. There was no option to change that setting in the member
area of the account and last time I looked at the account info, well,
all that was there was my breeder id info.

Your implication that people are opting out of something they don't
even know is there is very misleading, and I doubt if all of those
people who haven't gone in to change defaults on some obscure place on
the ARI site will appreciate that implication. That's all.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Introduction

Welcome Chris and Kara,

I have Huacayas. I chose them as I felt their fleece has more value
and the initial investment in the individual alpaca was less costly.
I also got lucky and just happened to get a great buy on a herd when
some people decided to move back to the city from rural Ohio. (They
just happened to move to rural Ohio and then Ohio had the worst
winter that they had in years, so these folks sold out and moved
before they even took delivery of their alpacas.)

I've heard that Suri can be more hardy in hot weather, but I don't
know if they really are or not.

I recommend that you get proven females that have never had issues
birthing or raising their cria. That doesn't guarantee that they
won't ever have issues in the future, but I think it can give one
some peace of mind knowing that at least the alpaca has been
successfully through the birthing process before.

Do you show your Ibizans or your Anatolians in UKC? I have Chinooks
and show with UKC quite a bit. I didn't know that Ibizans as had a
wire coated variety.

I can't imagine what it must feel like to devote so many hours trouble shooting and working to promote this business with out being paid to do so and have people accuse you of devious undertakings. The BOD are also alpaca breeders. Why does anyone think they are purposely doing anything that is detrimental to AOBA (it's membership) Why anyone would take on this thankless job is beyond me but I do appreciate all the hard work performed by the BOD and applaud the recent court decision which came about because of their hard work. Dear Heather......I was not implying that you were involved in anything
deceptive or covert by 'opting' to not publish your ownership info. Just
helping to clarify to you what another member had memtioned was missing from your
ARI membership info. I believe in your 'Do tell' words, you were asking for
clarification on what was being mentioned and how to change it. I was
simply replying with information, not accusations of any sort.

The definition of 'opt' is to make a choice. It doesn't matter what the
default is.....you chose not to publish your info. As Rick said, we're all
smart enough to track down an animal in most cases......it's just a convenience
for possible customers to list complete info on the ARI website.

I hope I've worded this post in a clear manner, leaving no possible
innuendoes of slander or accusations as that's certainly not my intention.

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: AOBA Shennanigans/subsidiary

Thanks for your reply, Rick, but I was actually asking Carolyn
Marquette what she was saying in her post. She's the one who remarked
that my account info was not published at ARI.

Yes, I did say shennanigans (a thousand pardons, I added an extra "n")
and I do call bullshit on this. It still looks bad and smells bad.

On the other hand, I doubt that anyone would want to "take down AOBA"
"because I can." That sounds like a complete fabrication to any
reasonable person.

Of course we all know where certain people's allegiances lie. But maybe
it's time that AOBA had new people running it. And maybe the BOD ought
to the completely accountable to the membership, not just "to a point"
as Steve Hull pointed out.
