Having your own website is the best way to market
your alpacas. And I mean, your own – not one on a
site like AlpacaNation. If you use their site you’re
promoting them not you! All traffic that you generate
helps to build their site visibility when it could be
building yours.
But having your own website is only part of the answer
– getting traffic to it is the most important factor. To
do that effectively means having a site that is optimized
to do well in the search engines, and that ranks well in
local searches.
While getting on to the first page of Google, Yahoo and
Bing might be almost impossible for a generic term such
as “alpacas”, you should certainly be able to achieve that
for a search in your local area, and that’s where it matters
most.
I have looked at hundreds of alpaca sites and the vast
majority are not set up to rank well in search engine
result – I seriously doubt that they get much traffic at all.
