Re: [AlpacaTalk] A fond farewell

Best wishes to you and your family. Unfortunately, the current economic
state, and compounded with health and/or family issues like yours, it's
a decision that many people feel they have no choice but to make.

Warmly,
Heather

[AlpacaTalk] A fond farewell

Well, the time has come. We have been through hard times in the last few years and have tried our best to stay in the business, but health and financial concerns make it impossible for us to continue.
We are officially closing our doors as a business after almost 10 years.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been here for us at Black Magic Alpaca Ranch over the years, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have met some of the best people in the world hands down in this industry, and have made friends for life that we treasure every day. There are simply no words to express how much we have learned and grown through our associations with you all.

I will keep up with my alpaca sites, although not as often as I do now, and hope to be able to continue to share my experiences with new breeders.
Of course there are a few alpacas that we will never sell- friends forever they are and will remain with us, but everyone else needs to go. When you can't care for your alpacas the way they deserve, then it's time to let them go to someone who can. This has been the most difficult decision we have ever had to make. We never thought it would end up this way!

We encourage everyone to visit my blog site for individual pricing, but we will entertain a package price as well. We need to sell as soon as possible- preferably before winter. I know I am walking the no advertising line, but I didn't know of any other way to let all of our friends know at once what was happening. And just last Thursday my poppa had a heart attack that has put him onto convalescent care for the time he has left, putting me in charge of my mother's failing health. This will take me away from the ranch and out to her place (which is almost three hours away) for days at a time and just doesn't make things any easier for sure.

I will still be volunteering for the Alpaca Research Foundation because they are my heroes- and the future of our precious alpacas. Besides, running the Super Stud Raffle is the highlight of my year :))
We will still be here to answer questions and still want updates on our sold alpacas! Thank you Mama Llama for my cards from my Hershey boy, it means SO much to me to be able to still be a part of his life like that.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Re: [AlpacaTalk] zinc

Those alpaca mineral mixes will have it. Stillwater 104 has 9000 ppm.
My mom's feed has zinc. The label doesn't list each mineral amount, but
the formula does follow Norm Evans' guidelines for our region. I would
go out on a limb and say that most alpaca feeds will contain zinc.

If you feel you have a zinc deficiency, you can always consult your vet
for products, dosages, and how to administer them. I find products by
spending a lot of time browsing sites like Valleyvet.com, looking at
label information, and then asking my vet about them.
