Michele,

As others have posted, the droopy lip is the result of bickering/spitting.
As I understand it (since I don't intend to try it myself), the taste of the
spit the alpaca brings up to make louies is nasty, so they hang their mouth
open and maybe drool a little to not taste it. Sometimes they'll take a
mouthful of hay and let it drop, also a way to get rid of the taste.

Our girls do it and our boys do it, mostly during feeding times, but
occasionally just because.
