Hi Caryn,
I don't know the stats, but I think it's fairly easy to find out if processors will just wash your fleece as a service. All it takes is knowing who they are and their contact info. I know of a few here in the Northwest who are probably most logical for you due to shipping rates... Star Castle Mills owned by Barbara and Ken Simpson, Fancy Fiber Farms (sorry, name of owner escapes me), Klamath River Alpacas owned by Lynn and Jim Roy. All can easily be googled, and processing fees are generally listed on their websites.
This is not meant as an endorsement or advertisement for any service provider, I am only providing names of service providers in my area, that I know.

Hi everyone!
New alpaca owner as of July of this year, three gelded boys (fiber hobby operation). I have a question about getting your fiber processed. I actually enjoy doing the carding/combing of the fiber myself (since I decide which I'm going to do based on how I'm using the fiber) but what I don't enjoy, of course, is washing the fiber.
I would love to be able to send all my bags of fleece out just to have them washed and returned. Do any processors actually do just that step, or do I have to have the fiber washed AND combed/carded into roving, etc.?
Thanks!
