Re: [AlpacaTalk] Like a lot of people, our TB huacaya herdsire is out of a job

CCR Faro (ARI# 30405523), a really nice TB huacaya son of MFI Pistol (who
sold for over 200K at auction) needs more crias on the ground! He has a very
good show record and is very dense and crimpy, produces tons of fleece and
has huge bone and correct conformation with a quiet temperament. He is on the
smaller side and so far has been throwing blacks and dark alpacas even from
light females.

I am also seeking someone with a grey herdsire to work out a breeding trade.
Local mobile breeding available. Email me for pix. Only $200 service fee
or we can work out trades, we don't have enough females for him and he really
needs more crias on the ground.

[AlpacaTalk] Two (2) bred foundation females - $6,000

Alpaca Talk Special – Two (2) bred foundation females - $ 6,000 – South Carolina

Precious and Nemiah are perfect for a new farm that wants to test the waters without spending a fortune. Both of these girls are very nice mid-quality older girls and have been consistent producers with no issues. They are bred to two of my best herdsires for Fall 2008 crias.

HPR Precious - $4,000 regular price – 15yo brown and white who was still maintaining 33.2 microns as of her 13th birthday. She is absolutely wonderful and has been with me since I purchased my first alpacas.

Nemiah - $5,000 regular price - 10yo female who is white with a few black spots. She has excellent density.

Hi Wendy,

We've always left the hair from the knee down. If its nasty we just trim a little with the hand shears ;) It's great protection on its own. A show animal may be handled very differently, but our guys are just here to hang out;D

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: fly predators

I live in Maryland, which over all is moderate in summer and winter,
although we do get some very hot and humid days where the heat index is over
100 degrees. We shear the whole body of our alpacas, but do leave fiber on
their legs, top knots, and tails. We prefer the look of the fiber on the
legs and I think it does keep the flies from biting them on the legs
somewhat. They do get regular belly hosing, have fans and a port-a-cool in
the barn. We pick up manure twice a day and keep the inside barn floors
power washed about 3 times a week. The inside stalls have the automatic fly
sprayers and we use Stall Dry on the outside poop piles which has DE as an
active ingredient. This is what has worked for us. Our fly population does
exist, but it is minimal and the alpacas have never suffered from heat
stress.
