RE: [AlpacaTalk] urine smell

 

            We use sawdust in our barns and some of it sticks to them but not that much.  It isn’t a big problem and at shearing time,  skirting the fleece isn’t any more difficult with the sawdust, imo. 

 

            Most of the time they spread and waste so much hay that it becomes the top layer of their bedding, with the sawdust underneath.

hi - i think it was Jim who said lime - do you mean dolomite lime?

 

i've used all my D.E. - it was quite temporary but at least it shut the neighbor up for a while -

 

thanks to everyone for all the suggestions - has anyone ever used sawdust? - i'm afraid it might get into their fibre and not come out, but i'm not familliar with the stuff so don't know for sure

Wendy,  just get the cheapest powered lime you can get. You can get it anyplace that you can buy grass seed, fert.,etc. Dolomite is usually granular, I think.
