Tim, I have to disagree with your email.  It really isn't fair to put this blame on the poor owner, who obviously knew what she was doing.  A beserk male is NOTHING like a bossy female or any other animal, for that matter.  Until you have experienced one of those, everything else is a piece of cake.  They CAN be trained out of it but it is a huge commitment of time and patience and very unfair to ask of an unsuspecting owner.  This breeder in question knew the animal was beserk and sold him anyway without mentioning it.  Someone could have been seriously injured or killed and it could have been an adult, child, dog or other alpaca.  I would suggest if this happens to anyone else, they take videos of the animal, get a letter from their vet confirming the animal's behavior and go straight to court, where they would win the cost of the animal, the cost of boarding it and the cost of emotional stress.  If more people did that, we would no longer have irresponsible, unethical breeders out there polluting the industry.

[AlpacaTalk] Neruda son available for mobile or drive by breedings So Cal

2 breedings for the price of one if you book before November 1, 09. Just look at his show record below
We need Gatsby cria in So Cal. Must be within a 60 miles for mobile breeding
Gatsby is an exceptional male sired by silver grey Patagonia's Neruda. His fleece is a deep mahogany brown with the lighter vicuna coloring often associated with very fine fleeces.

Gatsby possesses a balanced typey conformation associated with Neruda's offspring, and a sumptious brown fleece that disguises his solid grey genetics. Gatsby has a picture perfect phenotype, and with a second fleece histogram of 18.3/ 3.9/ 21.3 and only 1.4% fibers over 30, he has much to offer in the fineness department. He has just gotten better with maturity.

[AlpacaTalk] RE: Broken Leg

Oh Robin, what bad news; I am so sorry for the little girl. But was
encouraged to read Carolyn's post.....and your subsequent one. Sounds
like your girl will be "our" first 3 legged. I've seen dogs do
amazingly well with only 3 legs. Will be very interested to know how
this turns out. My hopes and prayers will be with your girl.
And Carolyn, how sad - isn't it just beyond the pits to get news like
that *after* the fact. How very sad that must have been. I am so very
sorry. Man these guys really get into it don't they?

Note on the wild cherry - after posting about it yesterday I was out in
the horse pasture cutting out a bunch of overgrown Poke and some noxious
vicious looking weeds and was horrified to see all the wild cherry
seedlings. I was cutting for 3 hrs; everytime I thought I was done I
would spot more. Sooo many leaves to kill:-(.

PS I am no herb doctor, but comfrey is the herb for healing bones,
along with boneset. Also...darn it I'm drawing a blank now, there is an
herb that is very high in silica (important for growing bones) - horse
something, horsetail?
