[AlpacaTalk]

Hi Heidi,
We had the wind and rain, too, lost power for 2 or 3 days. Had no water
since we're on a well, no heat, it was pretty dismal. No TV or
internet, that was the worst part! :) We bought gallons of water for
the alpacas, luckily it didn't really freeze until yesterday or maybe
the day before.

Happy holidays and a prosperous New Year to everyone!

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Message from moderator

Hi Heather,

How funny - I get lots of messages from lots of different forum, and I think this one just got mixed up in my mind with the others.

How is everyone out there? We had a heck of a windstorm with power outages for several days, then freezing weather. I have always just carried warm buckets out to my crew, and have a big trough for the horses, so had to break ice for a few days.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Heidi

Hello all!
You may have noticed I'm not a "hands-on" type of moderator, although I do rout out the
spammers as soon as I see 'em. Sometimes I won't see them for a few hours as my work
schedule has me afk for the evenings. I have not approved a few memberships, some I
think I've later seen on other groups causing trouble and generally being pains. I do want
important info for the alpaca industry, but I don't want this to be a screaming and yelling
Trafalgar Square type of forum. Yes, a few "For Sale" posts here and there are ok, but we
have AlpacaMarket and AlpacaNation.com, so I think those bases are covered.

And this is not the busiest of discussion groups. I started it when John Pinkowski closed
down that other group so that we could all get our alpaca talk fixes. Then, within days,
another breeder convinced John to hand over the reigns of that group, so it was started
back up. Since this was to be a replacement, well, that made the whole point moot, but I
kept it going since we do have a bit of chat here and there. I imagine you get at least some
sort of welcome message from Yahoo when you join? I guess I ought to write one up for
the future! :)

Anyway, a belated welcome to all and please consider this a refuge from all the
childishness that pervades (sometimes) those other discussion groups! BTW, no offense to
other moderators, I know one in particular who is having a heck of a time right now. I
think I would be a bit more heavy handed with the troublemakers, but thankfully I don't
have to make those decisions at this time. :)
