Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Other alpaca discussion groups

I think we should be able to talk about things alpaca,
even if they aren't all wonderful discussions.

When we got into the alpaca biz back in 1997, NOBODY
talked about anything regarding health issues or any
type of problems on the farm. Everything was secretive
and world of alpacas was this angelic little dream
world! We would like to believe that this is true, but
anyone who has done herd health knows that things are
not quite like that.

The topic of the future of alpacas is a sticky topic
also. It still needs to be discussed or nothing will
happen. I take that back, no more talking! We all need
to get to work and make this fiber end of things
prosper--one farm at a time. We can't wait for
everyone else to do it!

Get busy!

I invited him way back when the big stink happened at that other
"discussion" group, but he said he felt it would be best if he laid low
for a while. Although he drives me nuts sometimes, I think he does have
information that people should be informed about!

Well hopefully spelling and punctuation won't be an issue either :)

Seriously, I think it is important for anyone to be able to discuss things - within reason, anyway.  Some things are out of line (a certain breeder from Tennessee comes to mind).  Can anyone talk Ken Madl into joining?

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Other alpaca discussion groups

Hi Amanda,

From what I am gathering from my experience and others
that have commented, is that much of the information
being censored has nothing to do with the CONTENT
shared. In my case, I have said NOTHING that would
warrant my posts being excluded.

While I absolutely agree with just moving on and not
bothering with certain forums, I think it is good to
hear that there are quite a few others with the same
experiences and that none of us are being singled
out...many of us are!

The fact of the matter is that the said group's
moderator will go on to other forums and say how
wonderful the "site" is and how many people are
members, etc. The next comment is "look who is NOT
posting on that site and that will tell you something
about them." I have read this with my own eyes. The
problem is that since he is the one deciding who can
and who cannot post. What does this tell you?

It has been my experience on this other site that many
of the posters do not have a problem with comments
made, only the moderator does.

Interesting discussion. Funny that when Heather
originally posted about this, it did not have anything
to do with Alpacasite or its moderator!

I too have been censored on other groups and for the same reasons. I do
enjoy the open discussions on this group. I guess means helpful to them
means only to them, not general help for all. Thanks to all for your ideas
