Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: hard lump on lower lip
Glad to hear your girl is better!
<<<We had a girl develop an enormous abscess on her cheek
and jaw literally overnight, and all we can think of is that she was
stung by something. She was normal one day, the next morning her
check was the size of a grapefruit.
Really gross, and required flushing and draining every day until it
was healed.>>>
That was my first thought - probably because my male was so prone to jaw
abscesses and they were such a pain to treat. I was thinking maybe a
piece of hay stuck in her gum. But luckily by the time she came back in
from grazing a few hours later, it was noticeably better and was all
gone by this morning. My dd reminded me that this had happeded to her
last summer only much much worse - that was the midnight call to the vet
who informed she was not interested in having to learn a new breed of
animal. I am thinking she laid her face down in some ants - which have
just quadrupled around here the past few weeks. And yes we have lots of
wasps as well. So could have been either. I got into some of those
ants myself the other day and they left huge welts all up my leg...tiny
little ants they were too. Thank goodness nothing seriously wrong with
my girl and no vet bill for which I am very thankful.
