Our manure piles actually break down faster because DE is drying.  It doesn't hurt vegetables or edible crops either and I sprinkle it around them to prevent snails and slugs from getting them.

Here's some unsolicited advice for everyone. If you're talking with a party regarding a purchase or sale of anything,from alpacas to poop or anything else, if you are no longer interested, for whatever reason, it's polite to let them know rather than just ceasing communication with them, and having them wait and wait and wait and wait.

One thing I haven't seen here is what the effect on composting DE might have?  I've heard that you can have flies and compostable poop or no flies and poop piles that don't break down.

I was SO disappointed; and she was less than nice on the phone. I told
her that when tried to place the order online (and I was ordering some
other things as well), that they just showed they would be back ordered
and my price stayed the same. I asked her what would have happened if I
had just completed the order on line.....would I then be in the back
order que? She said no, I would have just called you and told you we
were out.
After your post I am tempted to just go and place the order anyway at
the sale price, drop the other items - which was where the problem with
paying shipping arose) and see what happens.
