Thanks everyone! I may have responded to some of you personally but here is the situation, in case you know of anyone that can look into this:

I received a call yesterday from a very upset lady out in Eugene Oregon. She read the following post on Craigslist:

The post starts with Alpacas $5. Then here is the rest:
"The wife will be gone Sept 7 , we will butcher ourselves if not sold by then. It is hunting season and does look and taste like venison. She won't know the difference.
We have a four alpaca that need new homes. If butchered the approx yield is 30-40 pounds. $200.00 each.
Alpaca meat is very sweet and lean. it tastes much like a very young deer.
Butchering is not required. The wool is valuable and could be sold for money and their waste makes a good compost that can also be sold. We just can't keep them over this winter and while she is gone will be the perfect time to put them in our freezer if that"s how their fate goes."

I was hoping to find someone out there that could look into this and perhaps help the alpacas.

[AlpacaTalk] New here

Hi everyone!

I am new to this group and to Alpacas in general although I have been doing alot of homework and there are several farms very close to me that I have visited.

The reason I joined this group was because I am a distributor of Fastrack probiotics and from talking with the area farms I found out that it was not known that Fastrack was OK for Alpacas. My website is http://www.conklin.com/site/Gerry/index11.cfm . A 5lb bag is approx $25 but if you become a Preferred Customer you can get it for $17.55 I am doing a Labor Day special which upgrades you to a Preferred Customer at no charge (normally $25 1-time fee) and
1-5lb bag of Fastrack
1-1lb can of Liquid Dispersible
1-80mg tube of Fastrack Ruminant Gel
regular retail: 81.25, price this weekend $50 plus shipping. For a total savings of 56.25. If you are interested please send me an email at gerryconklin@zoominternet.net or call me tollfree 1-888-266-0014 x8429 and I will call you back

What I have learned from being on this group is that I really like Alpacas. Which I thought I did or I wouldnt have started down this path but I was afraid of their upkeep, sheering etc and I have learned that there are many people willing to help beginners which is wonderful! I am doing my first Alpaca show in Gettysburg in October and cannot wait to meet more people. After having cows, goats, horses and dogs, I am finding that Alpaca owners are the best!!! Thank you for making me feel welcome.
