Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Live Twins!!! Born 40 hours apart!!!

4/10 lb is great if you ask me! I'm grateful if mine gain at least 1/4
lb per day.... :)

I was going to suggest the amniotic fluid or placenta trick. I'm glad
it's working!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and the babies!

Thanks Susan. I hope your dog does well.

Again, I apologize everyone, for my crazy bad typing through tears and
frustration and not spell checking before hitting the send button.
You'd think I would know better than that by now.

We all love our furry/feathered/scaled friends so much, it's so hard to
lose one or to see one sick or in pain. But, that's what these
discussion groups are for, to support the dumb humans through our
challenges caring for our friends.

Best,
Heather

Tomorrow, we are hoping to teach him where alpaca milk comes from on
one of the dams who will not kick him if we restrain her to let him

Heather:

So sorry to hear about the kitty. It's so very hard to see an animal
in pain. Right now I'm getting ready to have my best ever house
dog's leg amputated because of bone cancer. We're hopeful that it
isn't the worst form and he's also had a chest xray that shows his
lungs seem to be okay -- the most likely place for the cancer to
metastasize to. In any event, he's been hurting for awhile and
finally got him to his old vet who got it diagnosed. As I said,
we're hopeful. As much as I'm not ready to see him go, if/when he
gets sick, I'll be able to say good-bye, especially if we can have at
least a few more good months together. The little kitty's best is
in my thoughts..............and I do believe in miracles even if they
are simply the kind that bring relief.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: off-topic: not alpacas

Oh good lord. I'm sorry but in my very emotonal state from expecting to take kitty to be
euthanised at 3.30pm to having her wreh=nched from my arms... I didn;t recall whaty I
wrote, then misread as a non-word (possibly~supposibly??).

I have no great hope for poor kitty. Her pelvis will not magically fix itself from homeopathy
nor from horrific manipulations from an untrained reflexology practioner. I weep for kitty.

Oh never mind. My dear sister has taken kitty from me and is no doubt
applying her homeopathy and reflexology skills to her as we speak. No
more updates on kitty's condition from here, I'm afraid.

Hi everyone.

Well, my lovely daughter and her wonderful fiancé finally got married
on Saturday after a delay due to emergency hospitalisation of the
groom's sister/my daughter's bridesmaid (same person, we think she'll
do well). But while they were out (at the wedding ceremony and
reception), it appears that someone placed a severely injured cat in
their backyard. She was discovered yesterday while setting up for a
family/close friends luncheon.

This little kitty is possibly 9 months old. She's very pretty. Her
oriental head shape is very similar to my old boy, Shiva. She's got
black/tan tabby markings, as well as some torbie coloring, some white
striping, and actually, some bengal spotting on her. And very large
ears. I fell in love with this kitty immediately. And, she appeared to
take a liking to me, as I was the first person she offered her "tummy
tummy tummy" to.

I took her home with me and placed her in the "small animal hospital,"
my bathroom. I've nursed many a sick cat and hen in there! She slept in
the bathtub, on a stack of 5 shop towels next to shallow dishes of food
and water. she didn't touch either overnight.

This kitty can't walk. Her pelvis is apparently fractured or very
broken. Looks that way to me, it's just not symmetrical. She only moves
from one place to another on her own if she is frightened and tries to
run away. It's clear she was housed in a litter box, she has clumping
clay cat litter stuck to her hind feet and backside. One hind leg is
severely atrophied. She can use it some, but with pain. She's not
confident to eat food offered to her unless it's lying on the ground by
her front paws. She has little bladder or bowel control. She pooed
where she lay and didn't try to move away, or try to move away to do
it. The shop towels were soaked with urine this morning.

She flinched when I went in to check on her this afternoon and made
quick movements with my hands near the doorknob. This sweet little
angel purrs when she hears my voice... any friendly voice, yet she was
obviously abused and starved in her condition, and forced to live in a
litterbox.

I called our small animal vet and told them the story... I'm going to
bring her down for an exam, and I probably won't bring her back home.
Since she has little bladder/bowel control, and is in such pain, even
removing the leg probably won't help this wonderful little life.

I'll write back when I get home.
