[AlpacaTalk] This may be the last bastion of free speech in the alpaca world!

Welcome all to a friendly, caring community of alpaca breeders and enthusiasts, where all
information is welcomed.

I want all members to be fully informed about products and services available, and where
they can get the best value for their hard-earned money.

Tell your friends, this is a great place to come to discuss every facet of your alpaca life.

Thanks and best regards,

[AlpacaTalk] Microchip readers

Here's another great link for everyone:
http://www.pettravelstore.com/store-pet-friendly-scanner1.html
This is for a very inexpensive Universal RFID microchip reader, only
$249.95. We bought one and it works great for the Digital Angel chips
we have for our alpacas. We haven't tried it on other brands as we
don't have any to test. But since it works so well on the brand we do
have, I have every confidence it will work on others just as well. It
shows the chip number on the readout screen.
Here's an excerpt fro their web page:
> With the ability to read both 125 kHz 9 and 10 digit and the 134 kHz
> 15 digit microchips. It is truly the most universal reader available
> today.

Thanks and best regards,

[AlpacaTalk] Fleece testing labs

It's getting to be that time again. Shearing day and testing fleece
samples.

Here's a list of links to fleece testing labs. I'm even including Ian
Watt's site, although I think his prices are, shall I say, excessive.
I've written to the Montana State Extension "Sheep Institute" to
inquire about sending samples to them, they do have an OFDA 2000
machine, in case anyone is interested in using that technology. I'm all
for supporting our public universities and colleges. I went to public
university and I know they can use all the funding they can get!
Support our education system!

And have no fear, you can send your samples to New Zealand and
Australia, and Canada too, without fear of finding yourself in
violation of any Customs or Quarantine regulations. All you have to do
is write what you're sending, which would be "Alpaca fleece samples" on
the customs declaration sticker that is placed on your package.

RE: [AlpacaTalk] I am a bad alpaca owner.....

Hi Rachelle, Wow, what a great idea. Wish I had thought of it. I am in the
same boat for the same reason (money) as I am sure a lot of others are. Hope
you get a good response to this. Flossie
