Re: [AlpacaTalk] testing attachments

Very welcome Heather!!

I like the hay boxes too.  The idea of the part that sits on top of the bale and follows the hay down as they eat, is very good for keeping the wasted hay loss down.

Well, you can thank Jim G for nudging me to do it. Thanks Jim!

The hay bale feeder is very simple. I have a web page just for those. But basically, they're 1 inch or so longer and wider than a bale of hay. Our hay bales are about 4'x 18" wide x 16" high. So the hay box is ... well 4' long because that's how wide plywood is, and about 20" wide and 18" high. The legs add 2-3". We make them to be as efficient as possible with the lumber, as little waste as possible. :)

We've also made some low feeders so crias can get to the hay. I'll post pics and dimensions to the web page soon.

LOVE it, Heather!  What a great idea!  I can never find the pix people refer to on the site.  I also love your hay bale boxes, what a neat idea!  I've been trying to create a plan to make feeders but like yours better than anything I came up with.  Neat!

We have had that and our Vet said the dam's milk was too rich. Nothing to do, it corrected itself.

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: How is everyone's week so far?, Manure Vac

Thanks, Jim!  Boy, wanna come stay at our ranch for awhile?  You sure are handy!  Do you think that a lawn vac would work on horse manure?  We have just been mulching our horse manure into the pasture with our garden tractor which works great but wears the mulching blades pretty quickly.  We also mulch the alpaca manure the same way but remove it from their pasture first.

What do you think? Do you like the attachment feature?

[AlpacaTalk] testing attachments [1 Attachment]

[Attachment(s) from Heather Zeleny included below]

Hi! I just changed the attachment feature for the group from "No
Attachments" to "Store on Site(exclude from emails)".

My thinking is, members can post images, and they'll be stored on the
group and hopefully a link to the photo will be in the email in your
mail client. Interested persons can then view the photo, and if not
interested, it won't take up space on the computer or attachments
folder.

So let's see how it works!

Heather

This is a pic of the full bale hay boxes we have for our adults.
