RE: [AlpacaTalk] Fwd: Last call

Hi Susan..

The message part of your forward post did not come through on this site. I
have seen it on the alpacasite.and I think you are right on.

Rick's behavior is odd.again and again it is just "remarkable" and different
than what I'd consider usual for adults.

There might be some reason we don't know why he can't conform his behavior
to normal standards of adult discourse.but I don't know what those reasons
might be!

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Last Call

Rick, this is ridiculous and I am posting this to the site and probably
costing myself a 30 day suspension but I don't care. You need to be exposed
for
what you are, a bully. I don't even know you, have never had a problem with
you and yet you continue to send these nasty, threatening emails behind
everyone's back. YOU are the one who needs to stop, give up this website and
let
everyone continue in peace. What have I ever done to make you this angry?

What "backhand attacks" are you talking about? Apparently YOU are the one
with the problem with me, I have no idea what you are referring to. I
thought
your nasty emails had stopped but I guess I was wrong as you are starting to
prove to the group once again. I didn't tell any lies about AOBA and they
agreed with me on my position regarding missing teeth and changed their
rules,
so I don't understand what you are referring to at all.

What is your problem?

Congratulations!

These babies are rather good size so you should be able to raise them if the
Gods of Luck are willing.

As to the problem of getting momma to take to the second baby..do you have
the afterbirth?

If you have it and were going to look it over..as many do; rub the second
baby with some of the afterbirth to get the scent fresh all over the
baby.and then rub it on the "accepted" twin as well.so that they smell just
the same.and let the "unaccepted" cria go up to nurse first.then the
"accepted" one after the first has a chance to latch on.

It does not always work, but it will often work.

My alpaca Petunia gave birth to a very small baby boy 2 mornings
ago. Though we suspected a twin - none came... In the wee hours of
the morning today (at least 40 hours after first twin)the second twin
was born and rolled into another paddock away from his dam. He was
found by the owner of the farm where this dam resides, partially wet
and hungry but ALIVE!! Bad news is that his dam has refused to care
for him. Good news is that he is alive and well and we are hoping
that once he gets stronger - we can try for a reintroduction again OR
to see if another dam will foster him. The really amazing thing is
that based on what the babies look like - we suspect that the babies
might be from 2 sires. This second baby looks exactly like another
baby on the farm who is from a sire we had bred to her earlier. This
particular dam is hard to read in her pregnancy behavior and got bred
to 3 sires before we were convinced that she was pregnant.

Does anyone out there have any experience with twins or rejection or
twins from different sires??? It is truly amazing that these babies
are both alive FULL TERM twins. 11.4 and 10.4 lbs respectively.
Really hoping to get the second cria back out to the barn to mom OR
whoever will take him! Just thought i'd share this miracle :)

[AlpacaTalk] live twins

congratulations Jen on your live twins - that really is a miracle! - my pretty black girl aborted black twins this summer - my first experience with twins, and they were born about 24 hours apart.

i wish you all good luck with getting the second one back to the mom, or at least a foster mom.
Please let us know how the miracle babies are doing.

Hi Pamela:

Try some lactation herbs for your foster mom. It will help her to
increase her milk to better support both (that is, if you can't get
the mom to take the cria back). You can try Pollard's herbs OR Dove
Creek. I also make a lactation herb formula that is organic.

Re: [AlpacaTalk] Live Twins!!! Born 40 hours apart!!!

Congratulations! We had a dam abort twin girls recently, 5 months
along--it's very sad.

If you're successful in getting mom to take the baby back, I'd like to hear
how you did it. We have a week old cria whose mom is rejecting her--luckily
we have a willing foster mom (a 1st time mom no less!) who gave birth 4 days
ago, but I'd really like to get her back to her own mom. The foster is a
tiny little thing, and so is her own cria, so I'm worried she's not going to
be able to support both...
