Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: Low milk production

Not only should Domperidone be started 3-5 days prior to birth, it has far
less efficacy when given after birth and little or no efficacy when first
given several days after birth.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Teeth-REALLY Horrible Sounds

Chuck thank you for your concern,

If I was hearing these sounds in an adult they would
see the Vet the next day the same with this cria when
I first heard it, but the Vet cannot see a real cause
for this (sound) behavior.
So, Next stop Washington State University Vet School,
I guess because this cannot go on. The cria is now
10-11 weeks old and has been doing this for most of
that time.
Health-good, size-normal range, and weight-
just a tiny bit low - but within normal range.

I have not ruled out anything: parasites, deformity,
you name it nothing left to do but bring in the
big ($$$) guns.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Low milk production

Allison,

I hadn't heard of using Domperidone before birth. I guess if you have
one that you know will not have enough milk. In this case, she's a
maiden and her dam had milk so we had no reason to suspect anything
other.

We started her on herbs about 4 weeks prior to her due date but she
dropped about 5 days early.

Thanks for the response! Another good piece of info for my birthing
book!
