[AlpacaTalk] Re:New Thread + AFCNA clip

Hi Allison,
On June 1 I sent a message to the AFCNA shareholders regarding the 2009 clip and a few other items.  It sound like you didn't receive it. I will send it to you again in a separate email and check to make sure your email is included in our address list.

Regarding the 2009 clip.  Here is a portion of what was written in that communication.

Your AFCNA BOD appreciates your patience as we work through the challenges associated with the 2009 clip collection.  It is doubtful that the 2009 Call for Clip will start in July as stated in an earlier communication.  However, it will happen.  Be looking for a special message soon regarding when, where, how, and other changes affecting the clip collection processes.  We will post the information on the AFCNA website at the same time.

Please just keep skirting away then hold the fleece in bags until you receive our final instructions.  We have made some final decisions but do not want to release the information in bits and pieces.  We want to make sure all of the information goes out to everyone at one time.

Thanks for the inquiry,

Dianna Jordan, AFCNA BOD President

[AlpacaTalk] New member introduction

Hi AlpacaTalkers,

I just subscribed to this list so I thought I'd introduce myself. I am fairly new in the alpaca world. I got my first alpacas just over a year ago and I agist my alpacas until I can get a place with acreage.

I currently have 8 huacayas: 5 adult females, 1 female cria, and 2 male weanlings. I took the Camelydynamics beginner course last year and hope to take further Camelydynamics training.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: worming with horse ivermectin paste

Oral Ivermectin will not work for meningeal worm, you must inject it (or Dectomax). So if you are in white tail country, you should be injecting. If you're not, you shouldn't be worming regualrly anyway, but only as needed based on fecals.

My question, i have ivermec 'd the alpacas by mouth for over 10 years(injectible) could i use this wormer instead seeing its readily available as a occasional one time deal to keep up with the natural way i've been worming. Re: [SPAM]Re: [AlpacaTalk] New Thread + AFCNA clip

Allison and Heather,
The 2008 clip has not been sorted yet.  In the last e-mail blast, AFCNA said they were facing some challenges with the sorting and would request the 2009 clip soon, but probably NOT in June.  I spoke with Diana Jordan at the fiber symposium and she was entertaining the following idea:  Because the sorting is a challenge, they are batting around the idea of training members to sort.  They would pay for the training in exchange for the members donating so much time to doing AFCNA sorting.   They invested a lot of training in the locals in New Mexico, however, they said that facility was not panning out, therefore, now the clip is in Tennessee.

Hi Allison,
I'm not an AFCNA member, so I have no information for you. I did look at the site a couple of days ago for some reason, and saw that Greg Schneider is now the president. I'm sure he, or any other board member, can give some info.

Hi List,

Your post, Heather, about fiber micron reports, got me to thinking.  Does anyone know if AFCNA is going to want its fiber put up the same way as last year or are there changes to what is required.  I'm madly skirting and I'm also wondering about getting it all packed up and sent off.  I don't want to be behind the eight ball on getting it ready and shipped in a timely fashion.  I have all last year's to put in also as I'd broken a shoulder and could not do it last season…so I have "lots" to get done and I want to do it right and only once!

Any information or ideas?  AFCNA website h as only the info on the 2008 clip…no update yet.
