[AlpacaTalk] Re: Leasing out female alpacas - thoughts?

Those are all good questions. I would think that there are a lot of
variables that would need to be worked out between both parties
depending upon the needs of each. I know that I couldn't really get
my mind wrapped around all the issues -- thus the question. It does
seem like there are a lot of issues.

I am new to the Alpaca world, just a year now, but have been involved with purebred dogs for a long time.  Although I have never leased a dog, I know that these type of things can be just about anything that the two parties involved agree to.  I would strongly recommend it all put in writing, covering all bases.  Include who is responsible for any expenses incurred whether it is vet care for mom and/or cria, if something happens to the female that is leased , how would that be handled.  Would the owner of the female being leased be owed something if worse case scenerio.......she dies while on lease.  I would just do your best to have all possible aspects covered in writing, signed by those involved and copies for both.
