Re: [AlpacaTalk] Leasing out female alpacas - thoughts?
Hi Joyce:
How would this leasing work? Would you breed the female or would they
take care of that? Would the leaser get the fiber or would you? Would
you keep the animal or would the leaser? If you kept the animal would
you charge board?
We lease a gelding to some folk that are only interested in the fleece.
We keep possession of the animal and pay all of the upkeep. In the
spring they pick up the fleece and pay the leasing fees which are enough
to cover the price of the fleece. This works good for us and them also.
Since I have a larger herd of macho's I would e interested in leasing a
female at a reasonable price to produce crea. The only draw back I can
see is that the registration could be trouble some and here in Canada
the offspring would would have the females owner's farm name as a prefix
to their name.
I to would be interested in hearing other ideas on this subject.
