[AlpacaTalk] questions....

Regarding health of alpacas...is there ever a time when an animal would get
sick and need overnight care from a human? We know they generally have their
crias during the day...or morning...and don't really normally need help with
that. BUT what about sickness?

[AlpacaTalk] RE: Insurance

The suggestions about checking with the local Farm Bureau and Chamber
of Commerce are great...thanks, folks! Trouble is, we're still looking
at farms. We've narrowed our search down to 4 states...(well, regions
within 4 states)...but until we actually find 'the one' farm that grabs
us, we don't know where we'll be!!! Crazy, I know, but hey, we'll know
it when we see it...plus proximity to other 'paca farms, vets, etc.,
will pay a major part in our decision, too.

SO, that means, since the products Farm Bureaus/Chambers of Commerce
offer vary by state, or by county, or even by municipality, I can't
really check much at this point. Wahhhh!

In IL, where we live now, there is private insurance (mandated by the
state - can't be turned down due to pre-existing conditions) but it's
$650/mo., minimum, for premiums. Per person. YIKES!!!

Ahhhh, the search continues.....
