Hi Margaret

You should see about coming out to Lexington the weekend after
Columbus Day to the show (www.vaobaexpo.com). We are nearing Level V
and it's going to be a good one! You will get to meet many VA farms
as well as farms from NC, SC, WV, MD, TN, NY, OH, PA, VT oh, and one
from Utah! The President of AOBA will be there as well as one of the
new Directors giving key note addresses. You could also visit
www.vaoba.info and see a listing of farms near you. I heard tell we
will be auctioning a couple of junior herdsires too!

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Leasing out female alpacas - thoughts?

Thanks to everyone who provided input both on list and off list. That
has given me a great deal of food for thought. Thanks.

[AlpacaTalk] Re: Leasing out female alpacas - thoughts?

If it were me, I think I'd try to set it up as close to an "ownership"
situation as possible: if the alpaca were to be at the lessee's farm,
the lessee would pay all costs and expenses, including vet, shearing,
breeding (unless that were part of the lease price), feed, etc.,and
would be required to keep purchase price insurance on her. If she were
staying at my farm, lessee would pay agisting, breeding, etc. plus
medical bills and anything else my agistors normally pay for. If the
lease were for a full year they get the cria and the fleece. I'm not
sure what the leasing fee should be...
