I don't have any *cheap* roving, but it's true black and easy to spin. So sorry about your wheel. I'd be very pissed. and I'd have demanded that his parents pay for the repairs! Or at least made a big stink. I really can't stand people who let their kids do whatever they please. /rant over

My wheel just got repaired after being stomped on by a little kid about two years ago at an alpaca event. I want to start spinning again but don't want to start on the very best in fiber until I'm sure I'm up to it. Anyone have some cheap alpaca roving to get me started. It doesn't have to be pretty or super soft or smooth. No vegetation though would be nice. Let me know if you have some to spare to practice on. Just let me know how much the cost per ounce.

[AlpacaTalk] SELR - two alpacas for re-home

 

Someone has contacted SELR in regards to the dispersal of two alpacas due to a divorce.
One is a 12 year old gelding (white suri) and the other is a 5 year old intact male (brown)
They are located on the Maryland/PA line above Baltimore. (Street, MD 21154)
We do not have any foster homes available who can take them so we are trying to get the word out in case an experienced alpaca owner wishes to add two more.
The owner says they are sweet and he has lots of bags of fiber, too!!

If you have any interest in taking these guys into your home, contact our Virginia Coordinator Nancy Sottosanti (luralam@shentel.net).  She will provide contact information for the owner and you can take it from there.  In a re-homing situation we pretty much just connect up the two parties and have no other involvement.

[AlpacaTalk] Let's Make a Deal

 

Anyone see the Let's Make a Deal where they GAVE AWAY an alpaca as a ZONK deal?????  It showed a few weeks ago.  That is awful, I mean the dud deal.  A friend of mine called me upset about it and she says she thought it would have been a good deal considering how much alpacas are worth.  So hopefully not everything thought it was a dud.
