Re: [AlpacaTalk] BVDV results question

Carolyn:
Thanks for the reminder about the CVI coming from the vet! DUH! I have a camelid vet and then the local guy -- thing is, they both know I only have alpacas and absolutely no cows! I'll still call the vet and see about getting it changed just in case something weird at some point comes up, but I doubt that.......

thanks all............just another stupid question that I should have thought through better!....it happens.......

it was an error.    I checked my reports from the same lab and they says camelid for the species.    Doubt it would be a problem.     The CVIs for shows are completed by your vet listing the test date and result.     I've never been asked at any show to see the actual lab copy even tho I've always carried them with me.    We do quite a few shows.

Wow, our OSU is much more cooperative than that. But yeah, your vet can request it, then.

Ahhh, you would think so! The last time I tried to contact them, they won't talk to anyone or release any info (or accept) any except from the vet.........I'll try calling her which is what I should have done in the first place. It seems like a little thing, but in the end, it could  be a biggie! Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Can you ask the lab to correct the species on the form and send you the corrected copy? I imagine they'd to it.

I recently received my BVDV results from the state lab and all is well.....except that on the report it has my alpaca listed as 'bovine' under species. I'm going to take a wild stab and figure that identifying the virus doesn't have much to do with what species the blood sample came from, but want to not only make sure about that, but even more to find out that IF I should ever want to enter this animal in a show that AOBA would accept the results with her her listed as a cow! Any thoughts? I can call the vet about the integrity of the results, but again, how would AOBA/show division see this?

thanks,
