Re: [AlpacaTalk] perfect alpaca farm
Hey Marie,
I would think raising alpacas in the Rockies would be interesting - kind of like taking them back to their homeland.? I don't know what kind of pastures you would run into in that area of the country, but technically the stocking rate per acre ranges from 5-10animals per acre, so if you had a good portion of your land in pasture you could probably have hundreds if not thousands on that sized property.

These funny charming critters have really taken a hold in my heart, at least
writing wise.
There's a writing contest and I find I'm shifting gears and writing a second
book and those pesky alpacas have poked their noses in this book too.
Don't you just love when fictional characters have a mind of their own?
Anyhow. I need some help ... AGAIN. Writer questions.
Has anyone transformed a dairy farm into an alpaca farm?
If you were to live in the "perfect" place to have an alpaca farm what would
it be??
If you were really talented and had grown up around farm animals and could
have lots of alpacas in your herd and you had 300 acres or more, how many
alpacas would you have?
(no I don't write questions for the SATs as a sideline, though I have
inspired a few.)
