Hi,
I have 3 females in the last 4 weeks of prenancy and they have coccidia. Can anyone tell me if it is safe to treat them and how much I should give them for the treatment? Also, what shots do you usually give for a new cria? My vet usually just gives a Covexin 8. Also, I know you can't give Naxcel to new cria's, but can you give it to the pregnant mom the last 4 weeks for ear infection? I'm trying to make sure I get it right. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for any info.

We top dress them whole, to the alpacas. They grind their food up very well, and any seeds that might miss grinding the first time get well chewed when they chew the cud. We have never had flax growing in the fields in or around poop piles.
Do you feed these whole or grind them up first? I feed them ground up
to my family and my dogs and was giving to my alpacas whole, but stopped
as I know they are not digestible whole by humans or dogs. anyone know
re alpacas? I know you can buy flax seed meal (already ground up) but
it becomes rancid soon after grinding and loses its value, so I always
grind just what I need at the time. That would become cumbersome for
the livestock......but could be done.
Thanks! Janice

<<< I have posted this on alpacasite, sorry if you get doubles.
The FDA is recalling several different animal feed.
Please check this website and see list:

FDA is not recalling these brands of feed - only feed that was stored at
this particular facility in KY; it is not the manufacturer - TG - but
the storage facility that only distributes locally - according to the
press release..
