[AlpacaTalk] Alpaca shute

I am sure you have thought of this, but I was watching the Marty McGee
Bennett video , and on it they use a gate partially closed next to the fence
for a chute. The Alpace was wedged in theree, head facing the angle created
by the mainly closed gate and fence. It looked like it worked pretty well,
one could devise a butt rest in this arrangement, and it is free. For those
of us with only a couple animals, this could get you by.

Also, there is no accurate test for CL. It can wall itself off in the goat
and a positive animal can produce a negative test.

[AlpacaTalk] Re:pygmy goat with alpacas?

I am not an Alpaca expert, but I have had goats for a couple years, and I
can tell you they are very picky eaters. They will not eat anything that
has touched the ground, unless is is growing.

Also, although CAE is not transmitable to Alpacas ( I checked in with the
vets at WADDL where I have my CAE testing done on this), CL is. If someone
is giving away a goat for free there is a reason. I would not personally
take any free animals. I got CAE positive goats when I bought them, and now
I am going to have to put them down. Buying from a tested herd is a must,
for me at least.

CL, if you get it, will stay on your property for YEARS, by the way.

[AlpacaTalk] Plans for an Alpaca chute

I have had numerous requests for pictures of the chute, so I thought it would be more efficient to post the picture to this site for all the world to see. I will post the plans to the Files if I am allowed to do so.

The plans are not mine, they are the Moores from Timberlake Llamas. I did not see a copy right on the file so I guess it will be ok.
