RE: [AlpacaTalk] A new organization???
Hi Lists.Susan, Heather.all of us,
I don't want to jump to anything. One always has that option. Likewise,
one can throw the baby out with the bathwater. One can go running around
because of a dearth of information.
Hearts.one can be precipitous in so very many ways. All of which don't work
Making another organization will simply elect a new BOD of BOBA or COBA.who
will still be made of people, each of differing ideas, agendas,
opinions..all of whom will still need time to negotiate with one another to
reach a consensus. That board of whatever entity will still have to
investigate, plan, negotiate, meet, and communicate with this industry.
Changing to another BOD won't change the underlying human issues that human
governance always encompasses.
We humans who are involved in this industry must not draw conclusions or
jump to them. We must instead investigate, fact gather, think, reflect,
plan, come to a united front and then act carefully, not precipitously. We
need to move carefully and deliberately. There is much to do and becoming
overly active without such reflection will cost us greatly over time. Less
sturm and drang. More careful deliberate publicly communicated planning
followed by careful action will avoid this sort of stampede mentality.
Speed simply is not as good as careful planning, followed by the correct
action.
Right now what is most sorely needed is time and communication. Neither is
instantly available.nature of the universe, it just isn't. These BOD
members are industry leaders and so they are often speaking, judging,
teaching,.or even writing, animal tending, etc. on a weekend. It is only
fair to give them 48 business hours to adequately respond to what is
happening. Filling their email or voicemail boxes to overflow and creating
a sense of maudlin chaos ill serves the industry.
We do have a need and a right for some communication. As a practical
matter.these folks live widely apart and right now probably have been
overwhelmed by the constant barrage of hue and cry. They can either respond
to the chaos or attempt to meet with one another. I would prefer they meet,
decide and then speak. Let them have time to accomplish that necessary
task.
Please,
Allison Moss-Fritch
Just as curious as the rest of you.but determined to be fair and patient

It depends on how you look at it. I have felt for a very long time that
AOBA is seriously broken. Many people are talking about not renewing
their membership. This latest occurrence just might be the last straw
for those people who were already disillusioned and questioning the
value of AOBA membership.
A board member felt no option but to resign because of the personal
agenda of another board member, and a dangerous ethical environment in
AOBA, perhaps the board specifically. Damning. One can jump to
conclusions about which board member and his personal agenda was the
cause of this.
