Re: [AlpacaTalk] informal survey...

Good Day Ellie,

Biggest frustration? Well, I suspect the situation Allison and I have is a bit unique, yet definitely an ongoing frustration.

We purchased our first alpaca the end of June 2004. After nearly three and a half years, with a herd now numbering 24 alpacas, we still agist. We are still "care givers" to Allison's mother, now nearly 95 and in very poor health yet still going.

Just to work with our alpacas, prepare for a show, or do breedings, that means a 125 mile drive (one way) almost every weekend. We spend almost as much time in the car as we do working with the alpacas during the one day a week we can be away.

Now that is frustrating. We will both be very happy to be able to move into our own farm and be able to walk out the door to care for or just visit our alpacas.

Best,

Denise

Just for my own curiosity/informal survey, please tell me about the biggest frustration with alpacas when you were new to them...or ongoing problem/frustration... If you have more than one, that's fine too.

I'm going to install a freebies page at my website with articles, resources or information that address some issues of livestock producers...just wondered if there's anything like that in this industry.

Thanks,
Ellie
