Hi Shere,
You could add a clause to your contract or you could take out an insurance policy for just a few months. I was just contacted by some folks in our area that have not had any alpacas move on or off their farm for months who now have this.
I believe that once the flies or mosquitoes are knocked down, we might find that this will slow down, at least in this region.
To answer your question, it would not keep me from buying alpacas, attending shows, or sending animals for breeding.

We live in NY and I havent seen any cases marked on the map here. But what can I do to make our first purchases safer?
