[AlpacaTalk] Virus Update
Sadly the number of infected alpacas and the death toll continue to
rise. When I stated this project I had no idea of how widespread it
would be, and how many heart breaking stories it would encompass.
Total herd size reported: 3455
Total number reported infected: 1683
Total number of deaths reported: 40 from owners and 6+ from
vets/universities
Please join the Alpaca Watch team! The more members we have the more
successful the program will be. The strength of Alpaca Watch lies in its
members. Each of us are responsible to report any issues in our
geographical area that affects the alpaca community. These may be nation
wide issues like the one we are now facing, or localized one such as:
the California fires, hurricanes, serious heat stress conditionsÂ….

As reports come in they will be posted here. When there is a serious
concern, yellow alert or higher, an email will be sent out the all the
members. Please remember: "No one person can do everything, but
everyone can do something." Together we can effect change in the
future and health of the American Alpaca herd.
Thank you,
Janet Morrow
