Re: [AlpacaTalk] New here
Hi there,
I have to agree 100% with Denise - the camelid companion is a great book. I
have older girls from larger farms, and they too don't like to be messed with,
but at least will tolerate it with the TTouch stuff. If you are a horse
person, you will have heard of Linda Tellington and her massage touches. Great
stuff.
But, another thing is alpacas just aren't really into the touchy feely thing
anyway. Overhandling a male cria can cause a big trouble once he is grown and
the hormones kick in. To tell the truth, although I liked the idea of the
industry end of alpacas, I was actually a bit leery because of the "huggable
investment" deal. I had just gotten 2 goats, and wouldn't have gotten alpacas if
they had been anywhere as friendly as my goats. I was afraid some of my more
questionable neighbors would walk off with them. They are curious and will
come up to people on the other side of the fence, but if anyone ever tried to
get too familiar with them, the'd run :)
