Re: [AlpacaTalk] Sick Cria Update

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry. I meant to congratulate you on your luck this morning.

I lost a boy a couple of years ago at about 10 weeks. I took him to the vet, and got some prescriptions. He had scours but that cleared up, he had lost weight, but nothing was found in fecal cultures, and after his death nothing remarkable was found in his necropsy, except that his bladder was full, about 1 liter... and he had moderate hepatic lipidosis, which can be explained by his weight previous loss.

I'm so sorry. You do your best at all times, and you can never predict the future. Hugs to you,

Heather

Yes it is very sad and yes we cried and I am not done yet.  You feel so darn helpless and feel like you should of protected them or done something to prevent  it.   It is all part of the world of alpacas.  If we worked with computers we would not have the heartbreak but we would not have the joy either.  I keep telling myself that.  This is still the best job I ever had.
Thanks for the support.
All the best
Robin
