Contact your vet immediately. Anytime you have an alpaca down, they need care ASAP. They do not show signs of "weakness" until they are in serious trouble. Your vet can do a farm visit and assess the downed animal. I would recommend a blood draw, and an IGG. Tube feeding and antibiotics are possible necessities. Please call your vet and have your little one examined. Some illnesses set in very quickly and without any notice. I don't know how familiar your vet's in the area are with camelids, but I can recommend that you contact Mike Schmit of Brainstorm Nursery. He is in Colfax, WI and his # is (715) 962-4105.
