Re: [AlpacaTalk] Re: hit and run posts
Hi Michael,
I have to say, I have read my first two... no, I re-read all of my
posts regarding that hit and run post and I honestly can't agree that
anything was abusive.
My replies may have been long-winded and very to the point. I do
apologise for never having learned how to sugar-coat my words. But
come on, excuses for not knowing rules, being told I was wrong about
points of fact does make me testy. Plus the red herrings about who is
or is not an AOBA member.. totally irrelevant, and irritated me even
more.
But you know, I what really took exception to, was being called
heartless because someone whom no one here knows posted a hit and run
URL, and I said it's not ok. Every single other time I get an email
containing just a URL, that link goes to a viagra sales site, or a
porn site, or starts downloading malware to my hard drive. No one had
any way of knowing what they were to find after following a blind
link. That sort of posting is never accepted on any discussion group,
anywhere. Especially from members no one knows! It's happened right
here on this group before because of my leniency with membership
approvals.
My original reply, in case anyone has forgotten it:
> Hmm. Funny, that's my sister's farm name, that she reserved with ARI

Really??? Heartless? It is annoying! Every bit of this whole stupid
issue!
Free speech, yes, I'm all for it. But. Advertising is not allowed on
this group, members have made it very clear that they don't want it,
and requesting that people go to one's own website is most absolutely
advertising. Posting links to one's own website is a tactic used by a
"neighbor" of Susan Olson's, a real pal to us both. I'm sure she
recognises it for what it is, if everyone else is blind to it.
This is exactly why I don't like being the rules police.
Also, I thought everyone here was a grown-up.
Heather
