[AlpacaTalk] Re: Thought I would likr to share this with you

Hello Heather-

You once stated to me that you insist on the right of free speech. OK,
a member posted a link to a "slide show" they wanted to share and many
of us found it great to watch and appreciated them sharing.

I agree, posting the web site was a surprise and was not in line with
the thinking of this site or others. I am not certain how you would
share something like that with the group.

I agree, he forgot to sign his post - something I have done myself as
many have but certainly not on purpose. Why not make it automatic?
Older systems, costly upgrade, personal time and dollar commitment -

I do not agree with your response or reaction. I did find that
offensive, abusive, and way out of line.

Perhaps a warning about posting links to websites.
Perhaps a warning to include your contact information.
Perhaps a warning about not using a link to private websites.
Perhaps understanding that most of us do not live and breathe computer
and are interested in Alpacas, the Alpaca community, and the great
people we meet in this community.

Regarding the use of a farm name, this happens quite often. We would
have liked MAM as our herd code and used it prior to registration -
our mistake. When we went to register this name - yikes someone else
used it. We used to have "MAM.email.com" as our email address. Used
it for years until we received a letter from the provider that another
user was going to get it and we had to change. My protest got the
answer - the Milwaukee Art Museum wanted that email. Nuf said.

I believe most if not all persons want unique identity in this
business and the most unique thing is a name. Unfortunately, many of
us again are not technically savy to the ways of searching for
registered or unregistered names. Many names are great names and are
popular to many so commonality in naming will occur. A civil approach
usually is enough to get the changes necessary along with a little proof.

I also searched for STARDUST and found your sisters site, but also
found three others besides Mike's - that makes five STARDUST ALPACAS.

I agree, your name is your character, your credibility, and your
reputation. Once you loose that you have nothing left in this
business. No one wishes to rely on anothers name but mistakes get made
especially in the excitement and rush of starting ones own farm and
raising Alpacas, and becoming part of the Alpaca community.

I agree, the internet has no emotion, but I keep getting yours loud
and clear. Perhaps we can figure out a way to get the message across
without killing the recipient.

Just some thoughtful thinking about the golden rule...Michael
