[AlpacaTalk] Best place for an Alpaca Farm?

We currently live in Mass. and have lived in New England our whole lives. But, our youngest son will be graduating from high school in a couple of years and we've begun thinking about where our empty-nester years should be.

One goal is to find a place that is the most temperate. I've never really liked the hot weather and now I'm liking the cold weather less and less. I had it in my mind that the Tennessee mountains seem to fit the bill as far as having moderate temps. I was looking at farms for sale in eastern Tennessee and didn't see any real 'bargains' even in today's market. I looked in the western part of the state and took note of several listings that mention storm cellars and safe rooms. Maybe the Kentucky mountains would also be a good place to have an alpaca farm? How about other places?

I know everyone has their own bias on the 'best place to live'. But, on this Thanksgiving weekend, what are your views on this?

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
