IMO what Laurel states above is a fact. The printed FRG is, and probably
has been for at least two years, obsolete as the primary method of marketing
AOBA members to folks investigating this industry. It worked in years past but
it will not work at the same levels, now or in the future. It MUST go
electronic, either on the web or on CD or both. The paradigm in which the printed
FRG guide succeeded has seen a significant shift and we are in essence in a
new one.

Let's hope the hiring of a IT person at the new headquarters moves AOBA
marketing efforrts into the new paradigm. If AOBA doesn't step into the new
arena, there will continue to be other opportunities for breeders, be it
AlpacaNation or others. The marketing money spent by breeders can go to AOBA or to
those other private opportunities. The money to market farms and alpacas WILL
be spent. Let's hope breeders are able to make a comparison of available
options and choose to send their money to AOBA. Encouraging members to
"support the industry" with their participation in the FRG will no longer work.
